Starting Before You're Ready Leads to Growth
Lessons from My Law Firm Journey
As someone who runs a commercial law firm, I’ve learned over the years that growth and expertise don’t come from waiting until everything aligns perfectly.
One of the biggest insights I’ve gained is that real progress happens when you step into something new, often unprepared, and trust the process of learning as you go.
Take my podcast, for example. I didn’t start with polished editing skills or a suite of professional tools. I started by diving in, testing different video editing software, and seeing what worked through trial and error.
It wasn’t about having everything figured out before I started - it was about the willingness to learn on the fly, make mistakes, and adjust along the way.
And that’s exactly how I've approached many projects in my law firm too, whether it’s building new client relationships, navigating complex contracts, or diving into new legal technologies.
We take it step by step, learning from each move.
This same philosophy applies to the clients we serve in the SaaS, Fintech, and IT sectors.
When launching a new product or navigating a fresh legal challenge, success is rarely about avoiding risk or waiting until everything is perfectly aligned. It’s about jumping in, adapting, and learning through action.
By starting before we’re ready, we embrace the discomfort of learning under pressure and that’s where the real breakthroughs happen.
This kind of hands-on experience builds both confidence and skill in ways that a perfect plan never can.
The lesson here for anyone - whether you're running a business, developing new products, or learning a new skill - is this: progress happens when you commit to taking action, even if you're not fully prepared.
The learning curve will be steep at times, but it’s in that friction where growth is forged.
So, take the plunge. Start before you feel ready. The pressure will teach you everything you need to know.
