AI made my life significantly better
Not to finish the work, but to start it
A year ago, my mornings were stuck in a dull routine that was all too predictable:
- The cursor just blinked at me on the screen, waiting for some spark of inspiration.
- My pages were half-finished, with bits of ideas all over the place.
- Deadlines were always lurking in my mind, reminding me of the pressure.
I often found myself caught in the same old cycle, wasting hours recycling the same ideas.
Writing up complicated clauses felt like a drag, summarizing research papers took ages, and rewriting the same paragraph in three different ways didn’t get me far at all.
The Reason I Changed
The work itself wasn’t bad; it just felt slow and heavy. I knew I could do better, but my method was holding me back.
Then I decided to change things up and started using AI tools as part of my routine.
I didn’t see AI as a substitute for my skills; instead, I saw it as a way to help me move my work along. Rather than staring at a blank screen, I could just give the AI specific tasks.
“Can you help me outline this clause?”
“Summarize these five legal cases for me.”
“Turn this rough draft into a polished blog post.”
The AI didn’t give me a perfect answer right away, but it got the ball rolling and helped me overcome that frustrating mental block.
Because of this, my editing process sped up a lot. My ideas flowed more freely, and I found myself writing with much less hassle.
Tasks that used to take me three tough hours now only took about one, giving me two extra hours for more interesting activities or diving deeper into my ideas.
My Final Lesson
What I learned through this whole experience is that AI doesn’t do the work for you; it just helps clear away the clouds that can block our creativity and focus.
Sure, creating great work still needs your critical thinking and personal touch, but getting started?
That’s often half the challenge. This new way of working hasn’t just changed my routine; it’s also brought back my excitement for writing.
